CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring a camera with adjustable aperture, extended battery life, and the new A20 Pro chip. These flagship devices also introduce manual camera controls and a redesigned Dynamic Island. Both models operate on iOS 27 and support Siri AI via Apple Intelligence. Preorders commence on September 12, with products available starting September 18 across more than 65 countries and regions.

The 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera now offers users the option to select from four aperture settings. Six laser-cut blades regulate the opening, influencing depth of field and light intake. Adjustments to shutter speed and white balance can be made directly within the Camera app. The new Pro controls include a histogram feature for exposure monitoring. Video capabilities include Cinematic effects at up to 60 frames per second after recording, while time-lapse recordings now support 4K resolution with Dolby Vision HDR.
A Reference Image feature is also introduced, capturing signed sensor data when Reference mode is activated. Private Cloud Compute processes this data into a reference image, allowing users to compare images in the Photos app to verify whether an image has changed after capture. Support for SynthID will be provided through a software update later this year. Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, stated that the new lineup advances camera technology, performance, battery life, and intelligence.
Deeper manual control introduced with the new camera system
The A20 Pro processor is built on a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, featuring a six-core CPU paired with a seven-core GPU. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores. Apple claims the GPU delivers up to 40% faster performance than the A19 Pro. An upgraded vapor chamber enhances cooling surface area, working in conjunction with improved chip packaging to sustain higher performance levels during intensive tasks.
Battery life sees increases across both Pro models, with the most significant improvements found in eSIM-only variants. The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max extends this to 45 hours. Wired charging can bring the battery to 50% in approximately 15 minutes. eSIM-only versions will launch in markets such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, along with several countries outside the Middle East.
Siri AI broadens capabilities with Apple Intelligence on iOS 27
Preloaded with iOS 27, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max provide access to the latest features of Apple Intelligence. Siri AI enters beta testing on September 14 for devices supporting English. Support for additional languages—French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish—is scheduled for October. Siri AI can utilize messages, emails, and photos to respond to user inquiries. It can also interpret on-screen content and assist with tasks using the Camera app.
Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro begins at $1,199 in the United States, while the Pro Max starts at $1,299. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Available finishes are black, silver, glacier, and burgundy. Orders open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on September 12, with sales starting on September 18 in the initial markets.
